Are You Holding Your Breath Emotionally? Here's How to Breathe Again.
Hey friend,
Have you ever caught yourself literally holding your breath when life feels overwhelming? Like your body’s just bracing for the next thing—another email, another argument, another disappointment?
That same thing happens emotionally.
We hold our breath with our hearts.
We clench up. We go into survival mode. We tell ourselves, “I’m fine. It’s fine. Just keep moving.”
But here’s the truth: You weren’t meant to live like that.
💔 Emotional Breath-Holding Looks Like…
Numbing out with scrolling or snacks (no judgment—I’ve been there with both!)
Avoiding emotions because you’re afraid you’ll get stuck in them
Saying “yes” when your heart is screaming “no”
Feeling disconnected even when you’re surrounded by people
And the more we do it, the heavier everything feels. Like your spirit’s wearing tight jeans two sizes too small. (You can’t heal when you can’t breathe.)
🌬️ Try This Gentle Reset:
Take a moment right now—just 30 seconds.
Put your hand over your heart. Close your eyes.
Now take a slow, deep breath and whisper:
“I’m safe. I’m healing. I can breathe again.”
Do it once. Then again. And if you cry? That’s okay. Tears are just exhale for the soul.

You are not broken. You’re just carrying a lot.
