Let the Waves Take It: A Healing Lesson from the Sea
There’s something about standing at the edge of the ocean that makes my soul exhale.
Today, I’m here—watching the tide roll in and out—and it’s stirring something deep inside me. I’ve always believed that the ocean speaks. Not with words, but with movement. With power. With beauty. With presence.
I love how the waves don’t ask permission. They just are. Loud, quiet, crashing, calm. And they always return.
For me, the ocean has always been a sacred space. A place where healing begins simply by showing up and letting the rhythm do its work.
When the waves come in, I picture them as God’s hands—reaching toward me, gently scooping up the weight I’ve been carrying. The heartache, the stress, the ache of disappointment, the questions I don’t have answers for. And as the water retreats, I imagine those burdens being swept away. Gone. Just like that. Not mine to hold anymore.
There’s therapy in the tide.
If you’re in a season of overwhelm or heartbreak—maybe facing a change you didn’t choose—take a deep breath with me. Imagine standing here, feet in the sand, as the ocean does what it does best: holds space for you.
It doesn’t fix.
It doesn’t force.
It simply flows.
And that alone is healing.
There’s majesty in its presence and softness in its power. I think that’s a lot like grace.
So today, if you need a visual to help you let go of what’s weighing you down, use this:
The ocean.
Coming in—taking it.
Going out—carrying it.
Over and over, as long as you need.
You are not alone in your pain, and you don’t have to figure it all out right now. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is stand still… and let the waves do the moving.
With love and healing,
Misty
